Gala Auditions - Call for Dancers

All current Open Arts Dancers in 3rd Grade and up are invited to audition to perform in our annual Open Arts Performance Company Gala.

Auditions will take place on Thursday, January 8th 7:30-8:30pm at the studio. Dancers should wear leotard and tights only and be ready to dance in bare feet but also bring any additional dance shoes you have - jazz, ballet, tap, etc. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun or ponytail or equivalent.

Participating in our OAPC Gala is an opportunity for dancers to learn more about dancing for film, which is completely different from stage performances and an important part of dance as a performance art. It's also a service opportunity for dancers to use their talent and artistry to benefit others.

This is a casting audition, which means as long as we have space, all dancers who audition will be cast in at least one piece. All dance pieces are choreographed by High School Performance Company dancers. Dance pieces will be recorded on Saturday, February 21st at the studio for an elegant sharing at the Gala Fundraising Event on Saturday, February 28th.

Here are the important dates and details Gala Dancers and Families should be able to commit to prior to auditioning. Due to the nature of this project, all rehearsal and events are mandatory. No exceptions.

• Rehearsal - Thursday, January 22nd 7:30-8:30pm

• Rehearsal - Thursday, January 29th 7:30-8:30pm

• Rehearsal - Thursday, February 5th 7:30-8:30pm

• Rehearsal - Thursday, February 12th 7:30-8:30pm

• Dress Rehearsal - Thursday, February 19th 7:30-8:30pm

• Recording Day - Saturday, February 21st 10:00am-12:00pm

• Gala Event - Saturday, February 28th 6:00pm* Gala attendance is not required, but encouraged

If you are ready to commit and participate in this event, you can sign-up to audition at the link below. Current OAPC dancers do not need to sign up, but should plan to attend auditions and all scheduled rehearsals. SHINE Performance Company Dancers will prepare and record pieces for the Gala, but are also invited to audition for student choreographed pieces as well if they are interested.
