Middle School Dance Classes
Dance Classes for Kids in 6th-8th Grades
As dancers enter Middle School, we shift our class focus to refining skills and building the strength and confidence to mature into their own personal best dancers and performers. Beginners are always welcome in all of our levels. Advanced and Continuing Dancers should consider our Intensive Training Track for extra growth and development.
This Jazz/Hip-Hop Class is designed for beginning Middle School dancers in 4th-7th Grades. It's an upbeat dance style performed to the popular music of today. We focus on learning traditional jazz technique with street jazz, hip-hop, funk, latin, character, swing, and break dancing skills sprinkled in for extra fun.
Tap is a distinctly American art form with rooms in African and Irish music and dance. This class encourages rhythmical precision blended with style and performance skills.
This technique only class is by invitation only and it's successful completion is required before dancers can move on to Pointe. We focus on strengthening the core, ankles, feet, and the entire body to prepare dancers for the intensive training required for dancing en pointe.
Upbeat dance styles performed to the popular music of today! In the Middle School level we will focus on developing the skills to master new leaps, turns, jumps, and kicks.
Modern is a constantly evolving contemporary dance form that teaches dancers a collection of principles regarding movement and the choreographic and performance process. In the Middle School level we begin to more deeply explore improvisation and the choreographic principles of contemporary dance.
Traditional Ballet Class with an increasingly advanced full barre, center and traveling progressions, and extensive work on strength, flexibility, and graceful expression.
Middle School and High School aged students combine for our highest level of Musical Theater study. We cover audition technique, performance principles, behind the scenes roles of theater, and Broadway and Musical Theater repertoire and history. Dancers are cast in an informal class production every Fall to put the skills they have learned over the years to real-life application and use!
